Weekend Weight Gain – D’OH!

The weekend was bad, I ate more then I should have, I had junk food I really didn’t want and I gained a couple pounds!

I’m upset at myself for not being prepared and giving in to what I know I shouldn’t have eaten. Let’s just say junk food is addicting.

Not only that but I wanted to workout all weekend but I didn’t put a lot of time going to the gym. Thankfully everything is done with and I get to concentrate on just me again. The weekends are killers I swear!

Today I went to the gym for about an hour and a half, and ate around 1200 calories so I’m back on track. I’m going to work hard the next few days and try to go to the gym daily until I’m down to 250 again. Right now I’m at 253 and I feel pretty heavy, I guess greasy pizza can do that to you.

D’oh!

Current Weight: 253

  1. Pizza is my favorite also. I’ve been known to take out a large pizza on my own. When I have to eat with others my intake degrades as well and I’m happy to get back to full control again when I’m back on my own.

The weight coming from those episodes hangs around a couple days and then it’s back to normal. I don’t think one bad day will have a long term affect, it’s more the day-to-day lifestyle that matters.

Pizza does less damage when the day-to-day calorie intake is safely out of starvation range (yet obviously below what our weight maintenance calorie intake is).

For me, a 34 yr. old, 6 ft tall guy who is sedentary, I need 2200-2400 calories a day to maintain my weight. Starvation is less than 1200 calories.

I will lose 2 lb. a week if I consume 1400 calories a day. That is an aggressive weight loss plan for me, and that is the NS plan.

I will lose 1 lb. a week if I consume 1800 calories a day. That is the current plan I’m on. 3 more weeks of this and I’ll up my intake to 2100-2200 calories a day.

Obviously when I workout I have to add calories to my daily intake to compensate.

You know a lot about losing weight so maybe you’ve heard all this sort of thing before. I hate looking in the mirror and seeing a fat dude; it makes me want to starve myself. But these last few months have taught me a lot and it helps to share with people with similar goals.

    To pizza and health!

  2. Thanks David, yes I should probably up my calorie intake to around 1500 or so calories per day, but really when I aim for 1200 calories a day, I eat most likely 1400-1500 calories a day. Trust me I’m not starving myself, and I wouldn’t do, I’ve been through that and NOTHING GOOD comes from. I may post about it later.

I’m just doing what has worked for me in the past, actually I was doing 1000 calories a day for a few months before, and that’s when I was at 300lbs.

I lost a lot of weight quickly, but not so much it did much damage. At 1200-1400 a day, with me working out a lot (to retain muscle) I feel it’s a good mix for a short term diet (3 months). After three months I will up my calories to maintain for a few months while my body gets used to things.

It’s like a game and I finally understand the rules. :)
