7-days of the Gym

Posted on 29. Jan, 2010 by .

So today will be the 7th straight day of going to the gym, and other then felling pretty tired (I just got back from the gym) I’m happy I did it.

I know 7-days isn’t a big deal, but you know it was fun to do and it was something new. I usually only go to the gym 3-5 days a week, and almost never 7 days in a row.. actually I think this is the first time I have ever gone 7-days in a row and it was pretty hard (I still have one more day to go).

Pros:

  1. I gained muscle! My arms feel a lot bigger which is awesome!
  2. I lost weight like a mad man until I upped my calories.
  3. Yep, I think that’s all the pros.. I gained a little more muscle and lost weight faster.

Cons:

  1. I think I’m going to sleep 15 hours after this post, whenever I workout hard I feel the need to sleep a good amount.
  2. It got a little boring. I don’t think I could do this for a month straight… wait a second.. do I hear a challenge coming on?

So yeah, today is the 7th day and as of right now it’s 2AM in the morning. I just got back from the 6th day of the gym and I’m about to go to sleep. I’ll wake up in 12 hours or so and head out to the 7th day of the gym. And when I say gym, I’m there for at least an hour and half doing a mix of strength training and cardio pretty hard. I don’t like wasting time in the gym.

I’m going to have to think about the 30-days straight going to the gym. My old trainer did that and he got ripped!

Time for sleep!

NO More Wal-Mart Clothes For Me

Posted on 28. Jan, 2010 by .

About six months ago I went to a nice clothing store which had all the clothes I wanted to wear but NOTHING that would fit me. The clothes were great, and they were cheap and I couldn’t get anything. I think that’s when it hit me that in order for me to get away from the fat clothes store (Wal-Mart) and get the clothes I wanted.. I would have to lose weight. It has been a HUGE motivator for me.. and finally today I was able to easily get several shirts that ALL fit me. It might not be a big thing for the average person.. but for me, it truly made my day. :)

I moved from 3XL shirts, to 2XL and XL shirts. And I went from a 46 inch waist to a 42 inch waist and shrinking. I’m so happy that I can shop at other places other then Wal-Mart you guys have no idea. It’s the first time in over 10 years!

Thought I would share that.

Thinking it’s Water Weight

Posted on 27. Jan, 2010 by .

This morning I woke up a couple pounds heaver, oh noes!

Hehe, I don’t think it’s a big deal. I had about 400-500 more calories then usual yesterday because I felt I was losing weight too fast from going to the gym so much. Today will be the 5th day of going to the gym without taking a break. I have a couple more days to go and then I’ll be back to my usual routine. I actually feel sore this morning though, which is great because I haven’t been getting very sore the past month. My workout buddy and I did a lot of strength training yesterday so I guess that did it.

Well, time for me to head to the gym; I’ll post later.

Cheers,

Gym for a Week: Update

Posted on 26. Jan, 2010 by .

8

Today is the 4th day of the 7 days I said I would go to the gym without taking a break and I feel pretty good.

I find the more I workout, the less sore I actually get. I’ll be sore after the gym for a couple hours.. but the next morning I’m usually fine. I’m also finding that stuff that used to be difficult for me has become A LOT easier since losing weight; for example I can actually run on the stair climber for 10 minutes straight without stopping (before I could barely do 3 minutes). I can RUN on the treadmill for 15-20 minutes non stop, where before I couldn’t run at all. It’s amazing the more weight I lose, the easier things become (funny how that works).

The only negative thing that I have noticed since working out these past 4 days, is that everyday I have worked out, I have lost a pound. Today I’m at 242.5, a pound less then yesterday. I guess with my low calorie diet (1200 calories a day) and my extreme workout rate I’m just losing weight left and right. So today I have upped my calories to 1500, and I will hold that amount for the next couple of days. I’m happy losing 3-4 pounds a week, but not much more then that.

An update for today. :)

Cheers,

Stages of Fatness

Posted on 25. Jan, 2010 by .

I wanted to post some pictures of my stages of fatness for awhile. This series will only be about 6 months back, so it’s nothing major. I’ll show more at a later time.. for now here is the last six months:

This first photo is dated 07/2009 ; at the time I was busy buying a house, and not really working out that much plus I was eating pretty bad.

This next one is dated 09/2009 ; I decided to dye my hair.. lol. I didn’t like it very much but whatever. Again buying a house during this time, not a lot of exercise, and eating crap all day.

This one was taken 11/2009 from my iPhone, I was in the processing of moving out of my apartment and I think that was the last photo before I left. I shaved the blond hair out.. lol. I was around 270ish lbs here.

This one is dated 12/2009 and it’s exactly the day I started the Weight Loss Challenge, December 7th. I felt pretty good that day, I weighed 268 lbs.

These next couple photos are from today 1/25/10 , a few hours ago. As of now I weight 243.5, and I feel great!

I still have a ways to go, but I think I’m doing pretty good. If you look at the first photo and then the last one.. I think there are some big changes. I’ve only lost around 30 pounds from the two photos so that’s pretty good. Later I’ll post some pictures of when I was 300+ lbs and we’ll see if you can see a difference. :)

A Good Workout

Posted on 24. Jan, 2010 by .

Today was the second day of my 7-days straight of going to the gym. I told my workout partner that I was thinking about getting a trainer in a couple months because our workouts have been lacking a little. Basically we have been doing the same few workouts over and over again and while that’s fine, I need something new because I haven’t been getting sore at all. So he took what I said and we mixed it up today and I have a feeling I’m going to be pretty sore tomorrow.

Not only that, I worked on my car today for a few hours (changing out a fuel pump), so that was even more exercise though nothing major.

I have been trying to increase my fiber intake recently because I have noticed I’m eating a lot more protein the past couple weeks (CHICKEN!!) and I don’t think that’s a very good idea. I have been drinking a lot of water, and trying to eat more fiber. I just finished eating a plate of broccoli and cheese.. emm!

Also I spent about 4 hours this morning adding threaded comments to the blog. It took a lot of tweaking but I think I have it set now. Basically now I can reply directly to certain comments easier, and have conversations with people now. Give it a shot, post a comment and I’ll reply. :)

Calorie Counting Notepad

Posted on 23. Jan, 2010 by .

I just wanted to make a quick video and post about a calorie counting notepad I finished yesterday. Please note this is my first YouTube video so bare with me.

It’s just a simple video I made with my digital camera. It was easier to do then I thought. Basically I finished my first calorie counting notepad (I rarely do), and wanted to show it off. :)

My calorie counting notepad is basically where I write down my calorie intake throughout the day as I eat something. I have it sitting in front of my fridge so whenever I grab something to eat, I just jot down the calories. It helps remind me of how many calories I eat in a day, how many I have left to eat and it’s somewhat accountable. Since I started using the notepad it has been 1000% easier watching my calorie intake. Before I would try and remember what I ate throughout the day and it never worked out well.

Just something I do to help lose weight.

Cheers,

Gym for 7-days in row!

Posted on 22. Jan, 2010 by .

8

I think I’m going to try a little experiment. I usually go to the gym 3-5 days a week depending if I feel like going or not. What I want to do is for a week straight go to the gym everyday without missing any days. I think that will help kick start my losing weight again.

Right now I’m at 246 lbs and I feel pretty good. I just want to be in the 230s and then I can hold that for 3-4 weeks or so. Maybe I’m an impatient person, I don’t know, I just need to be in the 230s sooner rather then later.

So that’s the mini-challenge for now.. going to the gym for a week straight starting tomorrow (I’m heading to sleep now). :)

Cheers,

Two Weeks And Only 4 Pounds Lost

Posted on 21. Jan, 2010 by .

7

It’s been two weeks and I’ve only lost 4 pounds! I’ve had some up and down days since then, days where fast food was all around me and I gave in a little. I have since come back down, but I’m only down 4 pounds since January 7th.

What went wrong?

Looking back through the posts.. I had some drama with my sister that caused me to eat a lot of junk food and not workout like I wanted to. There was a day where I went to a bar and hanged out with friends who wanted to eat junk food all day and not workout. After that, the rest of the days look like I was back on track to losing weight. I do know that I haven’t worked out as much as I wanted to recently. I worked at hard yesterday and now I’m down to 246 lbs. and I hope to workout again today sometime.

So I figure those few days where I screwed up, it cost me around 5 lbs of weight loss. I blame my sister.. :p

Oh well, losing weight too fast isn’t good for you so it’s not all bad news as long as I’m losing it eventually. I’m going to workout hard the next few days and see if I can reach 242!

Let’s see if I can do it!

Height & Weight: Health Insurance Costs

Posted on 19. Jan, 2010 by .

2

So I was approved for health insurance I signed up for earlier this month, but instead of the $60 a month I was expecting to pay, I was notified that my rate would be around $90 instead.

Curious, I called up the company and asked why my rate increased. They said because of my ‘height & weight’, I was moved over to a different price bracket. I can understand where the insurance company is coming from.. but it just sucks that because of my weight (247), I have to pay more for something. I guess with everything in life, weight effects a lot of things. It’s just sad how that is, I feel bad that I’m at this weight, and even though I’m losing the weight, I’m still at 247 and it’s not good enough.

Oh well, when I’m down in weight I plan on switching health insurance providers to get a better rate.

My ranting post for the day. :p
