New Trainer (Gold’s Gym)
Posted on 10. Feb, 2010 by Jay in Challenge +, Gym
So yesterday after my complementary training session at Gold’s Gym I decided to sign up for 18 more sessions with Personal Trainer Lance!
We started our workout talking about my diet; what exactly I ate throughout the day. I told him I started a ‘Weight Loss Challenge‘ where I was restricting my calorie intake to 1200-1400 calories per day and exercising 3-5 times a week. I told him I lost 31 pounds in two months with the plan and he was impressed. He was concerned about my low calorie intake though, and thought that I needed to increase my protein which I thought was pretty high already, but he explained to me it wasn’t.
Once we got that out of the way he weighed me and got my BMI which was at 29%. It’s high yes, but nothing compared to the 45% I was at three years ago! So I was excited about that.
After talking some more we started our workout. He had me do all new exercises I’ve never done before (I’m pretty sore today); we only worked out for about 30 minutes before the hour was up but in that time I got a great workout. On top of that I ran 15 minutes and was done for the day.
I feel with Lance I can continue losing weight and build muscle so that’s why I decided to train with him. He wants me to document everything I eat for a couple weeks to monitor my intake. I pretty much do that already so that won’t be a problem. He also wants to increase my protein intake to 220 grams a day, which means I basically have to start drinking a protein shake every day to keep up.
I’m excited about having a personal trainer again, I can already feel it will be a challenge.
Oh and by the way, I’m not sure if the great workout I had yesterday helped or not but this morning I woke up at 234 lbs, a 3 pound difference from the other day. Maybe Lance knows what he’s doing? Or I was dehydrated? I’m not sure. I sure did leap pass the 100 pounds lost mark though!

OH wait! That means I get to have my Carl’s JR! Hmm, let’s see what my personal trainer says first..

CONGRATULATIONS on passing the 100 pound mark!!!!! That’s great. I see my trainer again this weekend (I only go once a month or so – and workout on my own in between), and I’m looking forward to getting a new routine and being sore again.

Thanks, it hasn’t kicked in yet that I’m down 100 pounds since I started but I think a few months from now I’ll think back and say wow.. or something. :p
I workout again with my trainer tomorrow. I’m going to see him twice a week for a few months.

Congrats on passing the 100 lb mark. That’s huge! (No pun intended). I’ll be curious to hear your thoughts on having a trainer. Never had one myself.

Thanks!
Trainers are well worth it because they can teach you a lot of different workouts you never thought about, how to fully utilize the gym. And if you get a good trainer how to eat better. I’m got one because I want to stop doing the same old exercises and try something new for a change.
