High Fat Foods & Happy Feelings

Posted on 15. Feb, 2010 by in Food

So I noticed something yesterday.

After eating a high fat BBQ rib, I felt happy! Now it wouldn’t have clicked that I felt happy, but two days earlier after eating the same exact thing I felt happy as well.

I mean minutes, it might even be less then a minute that after eating I felt extremely happy where before I started eating I felt kind of depressed.

That is a dangerous combination. I never noticed the emotional impact foods had until right now. Sure I feel happy after eating chocolate or buzzed after sugary drinks, but a few months ago I was so used to eating high fat foods the connection of happy feelings and fat foods never happened. Though I’m sure I was happy after eating the foods, I just never connected the dots.

I wish I took a picture of what I ate. It was probably 500 calories of GOODNESS, it was so good, the best BBQ rib I’ve had ever, and it made me feel happy after a depressing day. :)

It’s scary how food can change your mood so quickly.

Just something I noticed.

Lol, well I’m sure it was the same for me as well, but I never really noticed it until the other day.

I rather feel happy by other ways then foods, so I’ll be more aware from now on. :)

Yeah food will do the endorphin thing, definitely. Pizza. My protein shakes. All culprits. :)

You had bbq ribs for only 500 calories, or was it is a single rib?

I’ve never noticed feeling happy about eating something fattening, but I’m sure I did, b/c otherwise I wouldnt have eaten so much. I know if I eat too too much though, thats when I feel like crap (yet I still do it..ugh).

Kind of unsettling how food can do that, huh?
