Calorie Counting Notepad

Posted on 23. Jan, 2010 by in Calorie Intake

I just wanted to make a quick video and post about a calorie counting notepad I finished yesterday. Please note this is my first YouTube video so bare with me.

It’s just a simple video I made with my digital camera. It was easier to do then I thought. Basically I finished my first calorie counting notepad (I rarely do), and wanted to show it off. :)

My calorie counting notepad is basically where I write down my calorie intake throughout the day as I eat something. I have it sitting in front of my fridge so whenever I grab something to eat, I just jot down the calories. It helps remind me of how many calories I eat in a day, how many I have left to eat and it’s somewhat accountable. Since I started using the notepad it has been 1000% easier watching my calorie intake. Before I would try and remember what I ate throughout the day and it never worked out well.

Just something I do to help lose weight.

Cheers,
JayLoss

That’s a great idea – while I don’t count calories , I do write down everything I eat/drink each day, following a few simple rules for each meal. For me, I use the notepad on my iPhone, which works great, and since I’m totally addicted to it, it’s always with me.

I’m more of an ipod note taker myself. But you’ve got to do what works for you.

I tried the iPhone app thing.. and it works I agree, but after awhile if I don’t have my phone with me 24/7 I lose track pretty fast. And some of the apps were too complicated and took too much time to enter data where all I want to do is quickly jot a number down and move on. The thing is for me, I mostly eat at my home so my notepad is always there. I’d like to eat out, but not while I’m on the Weight Loss challenge. :)

Whatever works I guess, the thing is to keep track of calories or foods you eat some how and you’ll be more successful. :)

I track all my stuff with the iPhone app LIVESTRONG calorie tracker. Actually I’ve started slacking on it a bit since I eat the same thing every day, and since I’m trying to get some muscle I shouldn’t be afraid of going over in calories as long as it’s healthy food.

I have a notepad too! It’s smaller than yours tho! every week I have a new page and I have 3 columns: calories/water/exercise and I use it to tally for the day.
During the day, I use a website called “tweetwhatyoueat.com” I can text a food to the site or add it on there if I’m at the computer. I usually have my phone with me all the time. If not I jot something down on the pad…and at the end of the day I tally up what I’ve eaten.
I love the concept of calorie counting. It really holds you accountable. The only thing i hate is having to estimate on stuff I cook or if I eat out somewhere without a menu. Granted, that’s always one meal out of the day (if that) but still I’m so OCD I like to know the exact number..or close!

Yeah, since I started using a notepad everything has changed for me. Before I would try to remember what I ate during the day and I would never get it right, and I would eat more where when I write everything down I can see exactly what I have eaten, and how much more I have to go for the day. Finding a way to track calories is VITAL for losing weight. Without it I wouldn’t have lost a pound.

I 10000000% agree! Plus I feel so in control when I look back and can (honestly) tell you every bite I’ve consumed.
You never really know how much you eat till you start writing it all down, huh? lol

Right, and it works for everything you want to scale back on. For example if you feel you’re watching too much TV and want to watch less. Get a notepad, and write down every minute you watch TV for about a week. The next week set a goal for only watching TV for however long you want to watch in a day or week and make sure not to go over your set allowance. :)

Maybe that’s a bit extreme.. but stuff like this, watching too much TV, eating too much, etc.. can all come back in bite you in the ass if you’re not careful. Thus the notepad. :)

            Cheers,
