2AM Gym Run!!

Posted on 05. Mar, 2010 by in Food, Gym

When I say run.. I mean I got in my car and drove to the gym. I did no running this morning. :)

I don’t know what it is about going to the gym early in the morning. I guess I feel I have the whole gym to myself and I can do whatever I want to do? On most days the gym is packed with at least 100 people, and it’s not a very big gym either.

This morning I did about 30 minutes of swimming (great workout!) and mix cardio and weight lifting. For my cardio I did about 20 minutes with a boxing bag (I love boxing) and that was pretty much it.

I’m really starting to enjoy doing laps at the gym. I think it’s a great overall workout. I felt my arms afterwords and they were pumped! :)

I guess one of the reasons I went this morning was because of what I ate earlier in the day.

Church’s Chicken! (fried chicken)

I did not choose to eat said chicken. I don’t like eating Churches Chicken because it’s just fat.. but I had a couple pieces none the less. It seems whenever I go to visit my Mom.. out comes the fast food. :(

She knows I’m trying to lose weight and eat better but they still order fast food pretty much everyday.

I was the odd one out today. I was the one eating the chicken without it’s greasy skin (took it off), and I ate greenbeans instead of biscuits, mashed potatoes and fries. Oh and I was drinking water.. that’s pretty much all I drink now. I felt kind of weird sitting at the table.. watching my mom and brother just happy eating junk instead of cooking healthy foods. I offered to cook some nice chicken… you guys have seen my chicken? :)

Ah.. well that’s how it goes.

Does your family eat junk food around you? What do you do about it?

I can definitely identify, Jay. I finally had to realize that I was responsible for me, and family and friends are responsible for themselves. If they choose to eat bad foods, even when I’m around, it’s still a choice on my part whether or not to partake. I try to anticipate what their habits are, and make contingency plans to have something healthy either before or after, so that I’m not tempted.

It sounds like you did really well with this meal, though! Taking the crust and skin off of the chicken, and having green beans as a side isn’t bad at all! Great job!

Yeah, it’s hard with my family and friends.

Maybe I should start packing my own foods. :p

I also realized that I have to be selfish sometimes and think of myself over others. I have to take care of myself first.

      Thanks for your comment Chad.

You’re a great example to your family, you made good decisions. I went to Subway with a friend yesterday and had water instead of a soda, and no chips. Probably should have had the 6 inch sandwich, but I was starving. 1000 cals in the 12 inch. Yikes Jared!
